Texas Tech defensive back CJ Baskerville has called out an Arkansas offensive lineman for an apparent dirty play in the Liberty Bowl on Friday night.
Arkansas lineman Fernando Carmona appeared to intentionally stomp on Baskerville’s ankle after a play after the game. Baskerville provided videos of the incident below:
Carmona, Arkansas’s starting left tackle, served as a captain for Arkansas on Friday night along with Taylen Green, Xavian Sorey and Cam Ball. He’s a redshirt junior with 1 year of eligibility remaining, but he’s also eligible to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.
As for the game itself, Arkansas defeated Texas Tech 39-26 on Friday night thanks to a big performance on the offensive side of the ball. The Razorbacks piled up 559 total yards on Texas Tech, including 218 on the ground. But this unnecessary action taken by Carmona could certainly cloud the result for some.
For Baskerville, this was the final game of his collegiate career. A former San Diego State transfer, he arrived in Lubbock in 2023 with 2 seasons of eligibility remaining and immediately became a starter for the Red Raiders. He recorded 6 interceptions and 9 pass deflections during his 2 years with the Red Raiders.
As of publication, Arkansas nor Carmona have issued a comment on the apparent dirty play.
