Auburn’s season opener against Oregon was already set to be one of the highlights of the Week 1 college football schedule and now the game has been elevated to primetime status.

The 2019 AdvoCare Classic between the Tigers and the Ducks has officially be announced as the primetime game of the week for Week 1 as the showdown from Arlington, Texas will be played Saturday, Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast nationally by ABC. The game is being held in AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The two programs have only met once before on the gridiron as Cam Newton famously led Auburn to a 22-19 win over Oregon in the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. Auburn went 8-5 last season and finished the season by destroying Purdue 63-14 in the Music City Bowl. Oregon went 9-4 and won the Redbox Bowl over Michigan State 7-6 (yes, that’s a real bowl game and that final score is not a typo).
