Tim Corbin loves what’s going on right now with Vanderbilt athletics.

As the head coach of the Commodores baseball team gets ready to kick-start another season, there have already been some great things going on in Nashville during the 2024-25 sports cycle. There is anticipation for his baseball team starting its season, of course, but what about the Vanderbilt men’s basketball team, which has already provided 2 court-storming situations with upset victories. The Commodores women’s basketball team is also 18-6 so far this season.

And last fall, there was the birth of a star in quarterback Diego Pavia, who threw for 2,293 yards with 20 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions. Pavia did major damage with his legs, too, rushing for an even 800 yards and 8 TDs.

Which brings us to the question that Corbin was asked on Sirius XM: What position would Pavia play if he hypothetically played for Corbin this winter and spring?

Corbin’s answer? “Centerfield … he’s got a nose for the ball,” said Vandy’s baseball coach.

Pavia put on a show for the Commodores football team last fall, helping them to a titanic upset of then-No. 1 Alabama that set off a wild celebration in Nashville. That was followed by the men’s basketball team’s couple of upset wins that provided more partying at Vandy.

Now, Corbin will hope his team keeps the party going, so to speak.
