Tim Tebow savagely mocked during minor league game

However hard he may try to make a name for himself as a baseball player, Tim Tebow won’t be able to escape his past as a Heisman Trophy winner and one of the biggest stars in college football history.

He was reminded of his football life in merciless fashion while playing against the Charleston RiverDogs over the weekend. When members of Tebow’s team, the Columbia Fireflies, were up to bat, Charleston put a graphic behind each player’s picture that should be immediately recognizable to SEC fans.

In the waning moments of Florida’s loss to Alabama in the 2009 SEC Championship Game, the camera panned to Tebow and showed him getting very emotional on the sideline. That image immediately made its way around the internet and became either proof of Tebow’s dedication to the sport or a source of joy for those who rooted against the record-setting quarterback.

The RiverDogs brought back that image and displayed it for all to see while also referring to every other member of Columbia’s lineup as “Not Tim Tebow.” That wasn’t all Charleston did, however, as the team’s mascot opted to don a bit of eyeblack for the evening.

The RiverDog further trolled Tebow by writing “John 3:16” on the eyeblack, a biblical passage that became synonymous with Tebow during his college days. Tebow went 1-for-4 at the plate, but he had one troubling moment when the bat slipped out of his hands and landed on the second-tier deck at the ballpark.

It’s unclear if Tebow was distracted by the scoreboard when the bat slipped out of his hands, but it was certainly a night to forget for the Florida legend.
