Todd McShay announces ‘time away’ from ESPN following troubling sideline report

Todd McShay announced on Tuesday that he would take time away from ESPN to focus on his health and his family.
“I can’t wait to be back on the sidelines soon,” he tweeted.
This news comes after he drew concern on social media following a sideline report before the second quarter of Alabama-Miami on ABC on Saturday. That followed an exit last year from the Wisconsin-Northwestern broadcast last year due to an illness. He would return to the sidelines for his next assignment the following weekend.
McShay typically works the sidelines of games in the fall, and has seen his career rise primarily because of his NFL Draft coverage in the spring, largely alongside long-time ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr.
I am going to take some time away to focus on my health and my family. Thank you ESPN for being so supportive and for all the well wishes – I can’t wait to be back on the sidelines soon.
