Tommy White battled through an ongoing shoulder problem last season, but the LSU slugger still pounded 24 home runs along with 105 RBIs that led the country en route to LSU’s national championship.
But White on Friday at LSU baseball’s media day revealed that his shoulder popped out of socket probably 20 times last season, including in the College World Series dogpile. The first-team All-American said he had offseason surgery and is ready for this season.
White last season batted .374 with 24 doubles ad 64 runs scored. He also finished No. 3 in the country in total bases (198) and No. 4 in RBIs per game (1.59).
While White sat out fall ball, he said he learned something about himself.
“I realized I love baseball more than I thought I did. I never went through something like that,” White said.
