Tony Vitello, Tennessee’s baseball coach who has led the Vols to the No. 1 spot in the rankings, has been suspended this week following a Saturday incident against Alabama.

In the incident, Vitello chest bumped an umpire during an on-field argument, drawing a 4-game suspension.

On Thursday, as the Vols prepare for a road series against Florida (for which Vitello will be suspended for the first 2 of the 3 games), he admitted he probably deserved the suspension:

The Vols beat Alabama on Sunday without Vitello and beat Bellarmine on Tuesday evening without him. Can they keep the wins coming as the final 2 games of the suspension commence on Friday and Saturday night in Gainesville?

The Vols are 34-3 overall and 14-1 in SEC play heading into the weekend series.
