The Aggies (5-0, 2-0) remain unbeaten after an overtime win against Arkansas on Saturday.

Despite nearly falling behind 35-14 in the fourth quarter to a team that hasn’t won an SEC game since 2012, Texas A&M now has two conference wins, both away from Kyle Field.

The Associated Press Top 25, released Sunday afternoon, kept A&M at No. 6, while the Amway Coaches Poll left the Aggies at No. 7 behind Baylor. That’s remained the same for three weeks, or since Georgia lost at South Carolina, which bumped up coach Kevin Sumlin’s program one slot in each poll.

Two SEC West teams — Alabama and Auburn — rank ahead of Texas A&M. But if the Aggies find a way to keep winning — a big “if” with both Mississippi schools and the Tide up next — A&M should make the College Football Playoff.

A&M’s win prevented all seven SEC West teams from making the Top 25 polls, as a two-loss Arkansas didn’t stand a chance. (The other six teams in the division are in the Top 15.)

Saturday’s matchup at Mississippi State represents the second road game against a ranked opponent, although South Carolina since has fallen out of the Top 25 with a loss to Missouri on Saturday.
