It may have been Peyton Manning’s farewell season, but Tom Brady won the popularity contest that is NFL merchandising sales.
ESPN sports business analyst Darren Rovell tweeted the NFLPA’s Top 50 individual players for total merchandising sales for the 2015 season.
There were 11 players from SEC schools (we know Von Miller and Ryan Tannehill played in the Big 12) that made the list.
Take a look:
2. Peyton Manning, QB, Denver Broncos (Tennessee)
6. Odell Beckham Jr., WR, New York Giants (LSU)
7. Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers (Auburn)
10. Jason Witten, TE, Dallas Cowboys (Tennessee)
24. Von Miller, LB, Denver Broncos (Texas A&M)
31. Amari Cooper, WR, Oakland Raiders (Alabama)
34. Ryan Tannehill, QB, Miami Dolphins (Texas A&M)
35. Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants (Ole Miss)
36. A.J. Green, WR, Cincinnati Bengals (Georgia)
39. Eddie Lacy, RB, Green Bay Packers (Alabama)
41. Joe Haden, DB, Cleveland Browns (Florida)
Here’s a look at the complete list:

Rovell also reported the biggest declines of the year, which included former Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel and former Ole Miss QB Eli Manning.

The most noticeable SEC name missing from this list?
My pick is former Alabama WR Julio Jones. He’s arguably the best WR in the NFL and turned in a monster 2015 season for the Atlanta Falcons.
I suppose the argument could be made that most Falcons and Crimson Tide fans have already purchased their Jones merchandise.
