Part of ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit’s job is to make predictions during ESPN’s “College GameDay.” Each week, we’ll keep track of how the former Ohio State quarterback’s SEC prognostication is going for the 2015 season.

This week: 1-2

Season: 1-2

THE PICKS

WIN: Auburn (over Louisville) — Herbstreit nailed this one to get his prediction day off to a flying start, even if Auburn let its foot off the gas a bit late in a 31-24 win.

LOSS: Bowling Green +21.5 (vs. Tennessee) — In his defense, Herbstreit said he thought Tennessee would win the game. He just didn’t think the Volunteers would cover the 21.5-point spread. In the third quarter, Tennessee led 42-27 when lightning delayed the game for 79 minutes. After Mother Nature allowed the game to resume, the Volunteers outpaced the Falcons, 17-3, on their way to a 59-30 win, beating the number by 7 1/2 points.

Arizona State (over Texas A&M) — Earlier in the week during a spot on ESPN Radio’s “Mike and Mike,” Herbstreit pegged Arizona State as a potential playoff team. So, in the name of consistency, he picked the Sun Devils to knock off the Aggies. Texas A&M raced out to a 14-0 lead and pulled away late for an emphatic 38-17 victory in Houston.
