Looking back: Kirk Herbstreit’s Week 2 College GameDay predictions
By Randy Capps
Published:
Part of ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit’s job is to make predictions during ESPN’s “College GameDay.” Each week, we’ll keep track of how the former Ohio State quarterback’s SEC prognostication is going for the 2015 season.
This week: 3-1
Season: 4-3
THE PICKS
Week 2 was very kind to Herbstreit. Only Alabama’s charity kept him from recording a perfect week.
WIN: LSU over Mississippi State — A nail-biter in Starkville that could have gone either way wound up in the win column for Herbstreit.
WIN: Oklahoma over Tennessee — Tennessee raced to a 17-0 lead, but Oklahoma tied it in the final minute, and went on to clip the Volunteers, 31-24, in two overtimes.
WIN: Kentucky over South Carolina — Herbstreit was high on the Wildcats, and they rewarded his faith with a hard-fought 26-22 win in Columbia.
LOSS: Alabama over Middle Tennessee (covering -35) — Alabama was more than good enough to handle the Blue Raiders on Saturday, but the Crimson Tide didn’t have the sort of offensive explosion required to cover the five-touchdown spread.
