TEAM OPPONENT MILES TRAVELED
LSU Syracuse 1,436
Tennessee Florida 549
Missouri Kentucky 460
Vanderbilt Ole Miss 257
Mississippi St. Auburn 244

Miles Away: Not only is LSU’s 1,436-mile jaunt to Syracuse this weekend the Tigers’ longest trip of the month and of the regular season, it is almost as long as the SEC’s other four road trips combined (1,510 miles) on Saturday. It’s also the SEC’s longest road trip of the season, and combined with its 297-mile trek to Mississippi State two weeks ago, LSU led all conference teams by traveling 1,733 miles in September.

Tennessee Takes Off: The Vols’ flight to Florida this week is finally their first road trip of the season. After going to Gainesville, Tennessee still has road matchups with Alabama and Kentucky over the last two Saturdays of October and Missouri on Nov. 21.

Road Warriors: On its first trip of the season, Missouri overcame a seven-point halftime deficit at Arkansas State to earn a 27-20 victory that extended its school-record road win streak to 11 games, the third-longest active run in the FBS behind Ohio State and Florida State. The Tigers’ 460-mile trek to Kentucky this week could be even harder.

A Road ‘V’ for Vandy? The last time Ole Miss lost to a non-conference opponent at home was in 2012, when Vanderbilt coincidentally nipped the Rebels, 27-26. The good news for the Commodores is that they are traveling just 257 miles to Oxford for this week’s game; but the bad news is that they and Ole Miss are miles apart in talent.

Bold Bulldogs: Mississippi State is going only 244 miles to face Auburn this week, but next week’s 565-mile trip to Texas A&M is much longer and arguably tougher. The Bulldogs remaining road games are at Missouri and Arkansas in November.

Note: Distances were compiled using Google Maps.
