Columbia Squared: South Carolina’s 870-mile trip to Missouri this week is its second-longest jaunt of the season. The Gamecocks have to travel 1,040 miles to College Station for their Halloween visit to Texas A&M.

Hog Hell: As if things weren’t bad enough for 1-3 Arkansas, the Razorbacks will hit the road for four of their next six games, starting with Saturday’s trip to Tennessee. The other three road matchups are games at Alabama (546 miles) next week, at Ole Miss (401) on Nov. 7 and at LSU (530) the following week.

Manic Month: Mississippi’s 665-mile jaunt to Gainesville this week kicks off a busy October for the Rebels. Ole Miss also has to visit Memphis (85 miles) on Oct. 17 and closes out the month by traveling to Auburn (294) on Halloween.

Bulldogs Catch Their Breath: After this week’s 565-mile trek to College Station, Mississippi State doesn’t hit the road again until its Nov. 5 trip to Missouri (572 miles). The Bulldogs cap their road slate this season with a Nov. 21 trip to Arkansas (496 miles).

Alabama Getaway: The Crimson Tide travels to Athens this week for its first road game of the season. But Bama’s away games after this one will be arguably be just as difficult: at Texas A&M on Oct. 17 (629 miles), at Mississippi State (83) on Nov. 14 and at Auburn on Nov. 28 (156).

Only Gets Tougher: Not only is Vanderbilt’s 34-mile trip to Middle Tennessee State this week its shortest trip of the season, it might also be its easiest. The Commodores also have games at South Carolina (442 miles), Houston (779), Florida (577) and Tennessee (181) remaining.

Note: Distances were compiled using Google Maps.
