Trey Moore is returning to Texas for the 2025 season, according to a report.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel shared that news on Thursday afternoon. Thamel also notes that Moore’s return means he will enter next season as one of college football’s best edge rushers.

Moore recorded 10 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks this season while playing on one of the nation’s best defenses in Austin. After beginning his career at UTSA, Moore has developed into one of the most disruptive pass rushers in the country.

His return is welcomed news for Texas given all the players the Longhorns have lost to the NFL Draft in the last week. Quinn Ewers, Matthew Golden, Isaiah Bond and Cameron Williams are amongst the players who are set to turn pro this offseason after starring for Texas in 2024.

Steve Sarkisian and his staff have recruited exceptionally well in recent years, so Texas should be able to replace that lost talent with other high-upside players. On offense, Arch Manning and Ryan Wingo are former blue-chip prospects who figure to be in line for larger roles next season.

But Texas’s process on the defensive side of the ball should be a little simpler, particularly with Moore set to return next fall.
