DeAngelo ‘Trill’ Carter, an Auburn defensive lineman and former Minnesota transfer, was reportedly shot in the upper body late Thursday night in Charlotte, North Carolina around 11:45 p.m. This report stems from a police report on the incident.

Carter was reportedly shot in the stomach/chest area by an unknown suspect in a parking lot and later taken to the hospital. Thankfully, surgery was not required and Carter was released 2 and 1/2 hours later.

Carter is playing for his 3rd team in college football but will not return to Auburn next season as he is out of eligibility. Before landing with the Tigers Carter played for Minnesota and Texas, eventually transferring to Auburn at the start of this season.

Carter was a rotational player for the Gophers, totaling 40 tackles, 3 sacks and 1 interception across his 4 years. He then transferred to Texas where he accumulated 9 tackles with 1 sack and 1 forced fumble. He didn’t see the field much in his final season in college, posting just 3 combined tackles against Alabama A&M and Mizzou.

According to multiple reports, Auburn has notified outlets that they are aware of the situation, but have not commented further on the matter.
