Tua Tagovailoa film: Former NFL exec explains what stands out about former Alabama QB
When talking about Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa, most people might reference the former Alabama QB’s national championship, his Maxwell and Walter Camp award win, his Offensive MVP award, or even his Dolphin franchise-tying record 6-touchdown game.
But, for former NFL executive Scott Pioli, Tagovailoa’s actions off the field are what make him stand out the most.

Pioli points at Tagovailoa’s “maturity” on the field, saying that it’s about “decision-making skills.” Tagovailoa utilized those skills to throw for 270 yards and a touchdown in a 20-7 win over the New England Patriots in the season opener. The next week against the Baltimore Ravens, Tagovailoa threw for 469 yards, 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in the 42-38 comeback win. His 6-touchdown game against the Ravens tied a Dolphins franchise record.
More than his play, Pioli says that the QB leads from within, and his teammates both like and respect him. It’s obviously something that is working, as the Dolphins have opened the season 2-0.
Tagovailoa will lead the Dolphins as they take on the Bills Sept. 25 in Miami.
