There has been much speculation this week in Miami about the status of Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the former Alabama star’s future with the team.

On Tuesday, Dolphins players were told by team officials that Tagovailoa is Miami’s quarterback, but rumors persist that the franchise could be looking to make a move, with plenty of eyes focused on disgruntled and legally troubled Houston QB Deshaun Watson.

On his show “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” the host discussed the situation and what has, in his opinion, most likely transpired in the last 24-48 hours:

“We all know something to be true,” Cowherd said. “When a company or a business is going to do something and it’s perceived as controversial, here’s what they do; they call the media, they leak the story, to see how it plays.

“So here’s what happened with Miami. Miami made a run a Deshaun Watson. Deshaun Watson’s camp is trying to save him, make him look important. They leak it. Miami backs off and says we’re not going to implode the season. We’re going to go with Tua.”

And in Cowherd’s mind, sticking with Tagovailoa is the right move.

“I would go with Tua, too,” Cowherd said. “I think Miami, with its coach and these special teams and that defense, can win double-digit games and make the playoffs.”

Cowherd did, however, caution that where there’s smoke there’s fire, and he doesn’t think anyone’s heard the last about a potential move by Watson to Miami.

“I don’t think they’re done pursuing Deshaun Watson,” said Cowherd of the Dolphins. “In fact, a reporter I trust said this is not done; it’s done for now.”
