Tulane entered Saturday’s matchups against No. 15 Oklahoma in Norman as the underdogs, but the Green Wave have kept the game close from the initial whistle, trailing by just 5 points with just over 11 minutes to go in the contest.

Oklahoma started fast, cruising to a commanding (21-0) lead and it looked like the Sooners would dominate Tulane, but the Green Wave’s defense tightened up, while their offense found a rhythm.

With just 3:33 left in the first half, Tulane orchestrated an impressive 13-play drive that resulted in a touchdown pass from Ty Thompson to Reggie Brown with just 19 seconds remaining until halftime.

But Tulane kicker, Ethan Head, stepped up to kick the extra point and somehow shanked the attempt in one of the worst PATS you will ever see. He didn’t miss wide right, or wide left. Instead, with a perfect hold, Head drilled a line drive directly over the heads of the linemen blocking for him in a line-drive missile that almost took off the head of a staffer who shielded her face and dodged the missed kick.

Check it out for yourself.

But still, Tulane has continued to chip away at the Sooners’ lead, who made it a 24-6 game with 9:20 left in the third  quarter.

The Green Wave put together another solid drive with just under 5 minutes in the third quarter, resulting in a touchdown pass to make it a 24-13 game. At the start of the fourth quarter, Oklahoma QB Jackson Arnold was picked off by Tyler Grubbs who took it to the house.

Ultimately, Oklahoma prevailed with just over 6 minutes remaining in the game, making it a 31-19 lead with a Jackson Arnold 24-yard touchdown run. The game isn’t over, but it feels like a long shot for the Green Wave to pull off the comeback win at this point.
