Tyreek Hill was arrested en route to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on Sunday morning ahead of the Dolphins’ Week 1 game against the Jaguars.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, Hill was detained after getting into a “verbal spat” with a police officer after he was pulled over for speeding. Darlington shared that news on NFL Countdown on Sunday morning.

Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that he will play today despite the incident.

Shortly before Schefter reported the arrest, a fan shared video of the moment that Hill was detained by police officers near the stadium:

Here’s additional video from the scene:

The Miami Dolphins issued a statement on social media on Sunday morning acknowledging the incident. The statement also confirms that Hill will be active and ready to play on Sunday.

“This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident about one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police. He has since been released. Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer support. Tyreek and all other players involved have safely arrived to the stadium and will be available for today’s game.”

Hill is one of the NFL’s best wide receivers. He led the league last season with 1,799 receiving yards in 2023 — a career-high.

Kickoff for the Jaguars-Dolphins game is at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
