Tyrique Stevenson, a second-year defensive back for the Chicago Bears who played for both Georgia and Miami in college, made headlines for all of the wrong reasons when he taunted Washington Commanders fans prior to their team’s game-winning Hail Mary to beat the Bears last week.
Stevenson put out a message on social media stating how sorry he was to the organization and fan base soon after, explaining that something like that would never happen again.
It appears that Chicago took internal action as well. On FOX’s NFL Kickoff, Jay Glazer explained that the Bears opted to bench Stevenson for this week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, and upon learning of this, the defensive back pulled himself out of Wednesday’s practice.
“Here’s the deal: they’re benching him today; he’s being demoted; he’s not starting. But on Wednesday when he found out he wasn’t starting, he actually pulled himself out of practice. That didn’t exactly go over great inside that locker room.” pic.twitter.com/n1N6adTZjz

That did not go over well within the Chicago locker room, and it appears that Stevenson will not be earning his starting role back anytime soon. The DB has 35 tackles, six pass breakups and an interception to his name this season.
