UAB on Saturday suffered its worst loss of the Trent Dilfer era, getting humiliated at home by Tulane 71-13. Jalen Kitna, the former Florida quarterback, started for the first time in 2024 and threw 3 interceptions for the Blazers in this one.

Kitna, the son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, was a 3-star prospect from the class of 2021 when he signed with Florida. But he was dismissed in Dec. 2022 after being charged with possession of child pornography and was banned from the Florida campus until Nov. 2025.

The charges were dropped in July 2023 after Kitna reached a plea deal and pled guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges. He ultimately transferred to UAB where he started the 2024 season as backup to Jacob Zeno.

An injury to Zeno, though, meant that Kitna would get the call against the Green Wave in Week 6. But he was just 20-of-41 for 239 yards and 1 touchdown while throwing 3 picks.

Meanwhile, the Blazers fell to 5-12 with Dilfer at the helm. Their only win this season has been against FCS Alcorn State, but they have been outscored 181-71 in their 4 losses.
