On Monday, the Florida Gators announced defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard would return for his senior season.

New head coach Jim McElwain will now have two key defensive players returning because junior linebacker Antonio Morrison announced he will be back for 2015, according to GatorZone.com.

Morrison was the team’s leading tackler in 2014 by a wide margin with 101 total tackles. The next closest player was senior linebacker Michael Taylor, who recorded just 61 tackles.

He garnered second-team All-SEC honors following his stellar junior season. His presence in the middle of the defense will be a welcomed sight for the Gators and their new coaching staff. Florida will lose Taylor and fellow senior linebacker Neiron Ball.

“I’m returning to Florida and I will be getting my degree in 2015,” Morrison told GatorZone.com. “That plays a big role in why I’m returning. And as a leader of this team, I want to lead my team to Atlanta and possibly a national championship. Coach McElwain has put together a great staff and I’m looking forward to working with them this year.”

Morrison’s 2014 season came to an unfortunate end in the Birmingham Bowl when the 23-game starter suffered a left leg injury in the second quarter. He was carted off the field, but no details have been released in regard to the severity of his injury.

Both Morrison and Bullard will be important pieces and senior leaders for the Gators’ defense in 2015.
