Underdog has offered college football fans the chance to make picks involving star players for a couple of years now. That makes every Saturday even more exciting.

But now, the popular DFS app is taking its college football offerings a step further. For the first time ever, Underdog is hosting a college football best ball tournament!

Named Best Bowl Mania, the tournament has a $10 entry fee and $100,000 in prizes, including a $20,000 first-place prize:

You can enter a total of 150 times if you want. It should also be noted that this is a Superflex tournament, meaning 2 quarterbacks can be part of your starting lineup, adding extra value to the top passers in the game.

Underdog Best Bowl Mania

Best Bowl Mania is a play on the name of Underdog’s flagship NFL “Best Ball Mania” contest. Best Ball Mania is one of the most-popular offerings in the entire DFS space, so hopefully Best Bowl Mania also becomes popular.

Here’s a look at the prize structure for the contest, which allows a maximum of 11,280 entries:

  • 1st place: $20,000
  • 2nd place: $10,000
  • 3rd place: $5,000
  • 4th place: $4,000
  • 5th place: $3,430
  • 6th place: $2,000
  • 7th place: $1,750
  • 8th place: $1,500
  • 9th place: $1,250
  • 10th place: $1,000
  • 11th-20th places: $700
  • 21st-50th places: $500
  • 51st-94th places: $200
  • 95th-376th places: $15
  • 377th-1,880th places: $10

The scoring system is similar to Underdog’s NFL contests. It should be noted that you get 0.5 points per reception, which adds value to receivers and running backs who are involved in the passing game.

Drafts are 20 rounds each, with the roster construction every week looking like this:

  • QB: 1
  • RB: 2
  • WR: 2
  • TE: 1
  • FLEX: 1
  • SUPERFLEX: 1
  • BENCH: 12

The great part about best ball contests is that you don’t have to adjust your roster every week. Underdog will automatically optimize your lineup each weekend. That means you just draft your team and then watch the points pile up!

My First Best Bowl Mania Draft

Naturally, I couldn’t wait and joined a Best Bowl Mania draft as soon as I saw the contest on Underdog.

I had the third pick (out of 12 players in my draft room). Being a Mizzou graduate, I couldn’t help myself and picked Luther Burden III with my first pick.

Here’s a look at my team. I’m pretty happy with how things went at QB, RB and WR. My TE duo is a bit concerning, so I’ll have to monitor that throughout the year:

Is Drew Allar likely going to score a lot of points for my team? No, but can he have a couple of weeks putting up huge numbers? That’s what I’m counting on!

My favorite pick in the draft was probably getting LSU’s Chris Hilton Jr. at pick 195. I think that’ll prove to be a great value. I’m also high on Noah Fifita of Arizona. Getting him as my QB3 was a highlight.
