On Wednesday, news came out that Travin Dural’s status for LSU’s game against Louisiana-Monroe was up in the air after he received stitches on his forehead following a minor car accident in Baton Rouge. Wednesday evening, coach Les Miles cleared things up, saying that he fully expects Dural to be in action against the Warhawks.
Miles told reporters after practice on Wednesday that Dural was a full participant, helmet on, and will be in action on Saturday. The concern with Dural was that the stitches on his forehead would prevent him from wearing a helmet, which caused him to miss practice on Monday and Tuesday. That no longer appears to be the case.
Dural was involved in an accident at 3 a.m. after LSU’s 56-0 win over Sam Houston State. Dural was driving the car with one passenger and was hit by an oncoming SUV while making a left turn. Reports show that neither driver was ticketed and no one was transported by EMS.
In case you’ve forgotten, Dural is setting the nation on fire. He’s tops in the country with a 48.5 yards per catch average and has 291 yards and four touchdowns through two games. He set the LSU school record with a 94-yard touchdown reception against Sam Houston.
Also of note, Miles confirmed that freshman defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao has started practicing. Lealaimatafo suffered injuries to his in July when he punched through a glass window in the team’s weight room. Miles said it’s too early to tell if the freshman will take a redshirt this year.
