Upset alert: LSU can beat Ole Miss with defense and running game

LSU at Ole Miss, 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS – These are two evenly matched teams for the most part. While their offensive styles are different, both squads looked like SEC and national title contenders earlier in the season. Ole Miss enters the game as a 6.5 point favorite, largely due to home-field advantage, even though LSU coach Les Miles doesn’t think there is one.

There has been speculation that Miles will be coaching for his job the rest of the season. Regardless, the Tigers should be hungry after losing their last two games. Two major matchups favor LSU. While Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly has been solid all season, the Tigers defense has been steady against the pass, allowing only 116 yards through the air per game. The Rebels defense has been tough this season, but Leonard Fournette has seen tougher against Alabama and Florida. If LSU can establish its running game and play sound defense, the Tigers will pull off the upset … if that’s what you want to call it.
