Upset watch: Clemson losing 16-7 to Syracuse, starting QB Trevor Lawrence out 2nd half
According to Eric Boynton of the Spartanburg (SC) Herald-Journal, Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence has been ruled out for the second half after sustaining a scary injury in the first half.
Lawrence took a massive hit to the head/neck area on a run, but was able to walk off the field on his own power.
This entire week has been very dramatic in Clemson. This start against Syracuse was actually Lawrence’s first career start, as he was named the new QB over former starter Kelly Bryant.
Bryant then announced he intended to transfer on Thursday.
Clemson’s new QB is Chase Brice, a redshirt freshman who is Clemson’s lone remaining scholarship QB other than Lawrence. He has taken 25 snaps so far this season, and completed 5-of-8 passes for 37 yards.
