Vanderbilt fans don’t get many opportunities to storm the field. That’s not being disrespectful — it’s just the truth from recent seasons.

But on Saturday, the Commodores, led by transfer QB Diego Pavia, scored one of the most-impressive victories in recent college football history by downing No. 1 Alabama 40-35 in Nashville.

If anyone deserves to tear down some goalposts after a victory like that, it’s Vanderbilt faithful. What a win for coach Clark Lea and his squad.

Here’s a look at the Commodore fans storming the field to take down the goalposts after the final whistle blew:

Vanderbilt had never beaten an AP No. 1 team and was 0-60 in its last 60 games against top-5 teams. Those streaks came to an end on Saturday evening.

Considering that the last time Vanderbilt hosted Alabama back in 2017 the Crimson Tide won 59-0, this was a stunning result.

Diego Pavia cemented himself as an absolute legend at Vanderbilt and the 2024 season is only halfway done. Will we see any additional chaos moving forward? The night is still young!
