Vanderbilt appears to be recruiting internationally to try to bolster its 2022 class.

On Monday, Yilanan Ouattara, a defensive tackle from Cologne, Germany, announced that he has committed to the Commodores. Ouattara is a 3-star recruit, per the 247Sports rankings.

Ouattara received an offer from Vanderbilt last month, then he visited the campus in Nashville this past weekend. He must have enjoyed the meeting with the Commodores, as he immediately committed coming out of the trip.

Listed at 6-foot-6 1/2 and 274 pounds, Ouattara has the potential to be a force on Vandy’s defensive line. He also had an offer from Ole Miss, but the Rebels wanted him to play on the offensive line, according to Robbie Weinstein of 247Sports.com.

However, Ouattara opted to pick the Commodores, who he’s been impressed with thus far.

“It is a great academic university with a new, but experienced coaching staff that wants to bring a winning culture to the program,” Ouattara said when he received the offer, per Weinstein.

Vanderbilt now has 22 players in its 2022 class.
