Vanderbilt QB Deuce Wallace suspended for 2018 season for violating school policy

Vanderbilt’s quarterback depth behind starter Kyle Shurmur has taken a hit for the 2018 season.
On Thursday, Commodores coach Derek Mason announced that redshirt sophomore quarterback Deuce Wallace has been suspended for the season for violating a school policy.
Wallace served as a backup to Shurmur last season, appearing in four games. He passed for 94 yards and a touchdown in limited action.
Although Wallace has been suspended for this season, Mason said during his press conference that Wallace’s chances for starting in 2019 — after Shurmur has graduated — will not be affected by his violation of the school policy.
Wallace, who is listed at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, came to Vanderbilt in 2016, out of Sevierville, Tenn.
With Wallace out, the Commodores have two quarterbacks on their depth chart behind Shurmur — redshirt sophomore Mo Hasan and true freshman Allan Walters.
