No. 4 Alabama is a 5.5-point favorite over No. 3 Georgia in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game — for now.

The Crimson Tide’s Sugar Bowl semifinal against Clemson had not ended yet, as of the time of this post, but the Tide was leading 24-6 early in the fourth quarter.

Accordingly, Vegas has put out its early opening line for the assumed national championship contest.

RJ Bell (@RJinVegas) pointed out the early line from 5Dimes on Twitter Monday night:

Georgia knocked off Oklahoma 54-48 in a thrilling Rose Bowl semifinal earlier in the day.

The student vs. mentor angle will certainly be interesting if it does end up being UGA’s Kirby Smart vs. Alabama’s Nick Saban.

Next Monday’s presumed all-SEC title game in Atlanta will kick off at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
