Video: Boise State nearly pulls off incredible lateral TD on final play to avoid upset
For only the 17th time since 1980 on Saturday night, a 30-point underdog upset a favorite.
It happened in Idaho on Boise State’s blue turf as New Mexico held off the Broncos, 31-24, the Lobos’ second straight victory as a heavy underdog.
The game’s final play, however, nearly forced overtime after wideout Austin Cottrell picked up 55 yards on a lateral before being tackled a few yards short of the goal line:
