Video: Is Colton Jackson the next great offensive lineman from Arkansas?
Under the leadership of Bret Bielema, the Arkansas football program has evolved into a smash-mouth, physical offense rooted in running the football and controlling the line of scrimmage.
In 2015, the Razorbacks finished in the top half of the SEC in total rushing offense — accruing nearly 200 yards per contest on the ground.
While much of the offensive line returns from a season ago, a gaping hole exists at the left tackle position. Former starter Denver Kirkland departed after surprisingly declaring for the 2015 NFL Draft. As such, the Razorbacks are tasked with replacing the mammoth player accordingly.
If the offseason is any indication, redshirt freshman Colton Jackson appears primed to seize the starting gig. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound athlete out of Conway, Ark. has been drawing rave reviews from offensive line coach Kurt Anderson.
According to Anderson, Jackson has been simply superb in regards to his development as a player.
“He’s got length, he’s got the size, and he’s extremely bright. He’s got an unbelievable future in front of him. I can’t wait to see the results of his hard work this upcoming season.”
