Is there a new “Slash” in the making?

Imagine the damage Cam Newton could do as a quarterback and a wide receiver. The former Auburn signal-caller, now the Carolina Panthers’ franchise face, was seen running routes Saturday as a wide receiver at his 7-on-7 football tournament.

As reported by AL.com, the quarterback throwing to Newton was none other than Jackson Gibbs, the grandson of Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs.

Newton looks smooth running these routes, but there’s a slim chance you’ll see him doing the same thing on Sundays any time soon. He’s too valuable to the Panthers to risk injury in this way.

Still, it’s fun to dream.
