The Heisman Trophy went to the SEC last season, as Alabama running back Derrick Henry was victorious.

There are a handful of candidates from the best league in America for 2016, including Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly. Will he be able to record similar stats with fresh protection up front and new skill players?

If it’s going to be another tailback, then the conversation begins and ends with LSU’s Leonard Fournette. He actually averaged more yards per game last year than Henry, doing so on fewer attempts. As for the wide receivers, Alabama’s Calvin Ridley and Texas A&M’s Christian Kirk are both explosive in the passing game.

Defensive players aren’t usually in the conversation for the Heisman. However, Texas A&M pass rusher Myles Garrett might prove to be an exception. How many sacks and TFLs can he rack up despite all the double teams?

Watch the video above for a preview of the upcoming Heisman race and who might be a legit contender in 2016.
