Sometimes, sports transcend what happens between the lines.
Southern wide receiver Devon Gales and Georgia kicker Marshall Morgan shared a warm embrace on the field Saturday, nearly two months after the two collided during a kickoff return at Sanford Stadium.
The impact left Gales with several spine fractures, resulting in paralysis below the waist and limited movement in his arms and hands. Gales made a special trip to Athens this weekend from the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, a rehabilitation facility that specializes in spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation:
