Tennessee walk-on senior defensive lineman Charles Folger participated in his first ever press conference Wednesday and made the most of it. Three days prior to his final game at Neyland Stadium, the Augusta, Georgia native made an important announcement.
“I’m going to declare for the NFL Draft this year,” Folger said jokingly with a smile. “I’ve been waiting five years to say that guys, you have no idea how excited I am.”
Folger, who appeared in one game and registered three tackles in 2016, will participate in the Senior Day ceremony Saturday before the Vols’ matchup against Missouri. The fifth-year lineman said it will be difficult to hold back his emotions, especially when his family joins him on the field.
“My dad won’t like this but I’m going to be crying like a baby,” Folger said. “It’s going to be so emotional seeing my family, my mom, my dad, my brother and my sister down on the field. The five of us being together one last time before we all get going.
“Come on now guys, you’re going to ask me questions and I’m going to get all emotional up here. [Expletive].”
Tennessee and Missouri will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. EST on Saturday.
