The offer appears to be new, as Alabama was not listed among the schools which have offered Ruiz on his 247Sports’ recruiting profile. What the 5-foot-10, 165-pound Ruiz might lack in stature, he makes up for in confidence. His Twitter bio shows five stars and boasts of being the nation’s No. 1 kicker, as dubbed by trainer Chris Sailer. And when you can nail a 76-yard field goal, perhaps it’s all right to brag a bit.

Alabama now has 13 pledges for its 2017 class, which ranks No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in the SEC according to 247Sports’ composite. The Crimson Tide picked up a commitment from four-star LB Markali Benton earlier in the day.
