WATCH: Arizona State WR N’Keal Harry makes nearly entire UTSA defense miss on TD play
The Herm Edwards era at Arizona State got underway on Saturday and the Sun Devils put a 49-7 beatdown on UTSA to start 1-0.
The center of attention was on quarterback Manny Wilkins, who finished the game with 237 yards and 4 touchdowns, but we might have seen the best play of week 1 on this 31-yard touchdown pass to Wilkins to junior wide receiver N’Keal Harry. A quick, 5-yard strike turned into a highlight reel play where Harry got away from every UTSA defender, reversing the field and somehow turning it into a touchdown.

Harry led the way in receiving for Arizona State, finishing with six receptions for 140 yards and two touchdowns. A lot of attention will be on the Sun Devils in 2018, as Edwards has not coached college football since he was the defensive backs coach at San Jose State in 1989. Edwards’ last coaching position at any level was in 2008 when he was the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.
There were plenty of eye-catching plays from the first weekend of college football, but Harry’s touchdown has to be near the top.
Next, week, Arizona State hosts Michigan State in what will be Edwards’ first real challenge as a college head coach. Michigan State is 1-0 after surviving an upset bid from Utah State on Friday night. The Spartans beat the Aggies 38-31.
