WATCH: Broadcaster Gus Johnson absolutely butchers Tyrann Mathieu’s name
By Cody McClure
Published:
Tyrann Mathieu was a superstar during his time at LSU from 2010 to 2012, and has continued to be successful in the NFL.
Mathieu earned Pro Bowl honors in 2015. In college, he dominated in LSU’s defensive backfield and in the punt return game. Mathieu was the MVP of the 2011 SEC Championship game and a Heisman Trophy finalist.
Point being, the guy’s name was mentioned countless times.
Still, that doesn’t mean everyone remembers how to pronounce it. That includes even one of the most well-respected broadcasters in college football.
Check out Gus Johnson totally botch this pronunciation during the UCLA-Texas A&M game Sunday night.

Johnson probably knew immediately he had screwed up the name, but he did what any great broadcaster would do and kept on broadcasting.
At least he got the “Honey Badger” part right.
Honey Badger don’t care, though.
