Watch: Cam Newton takes Jalen Hurd-like shot at goal line, leaves for concussion tests
Against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton had a moment that might look familiar to anyone who watched the Tennessee-Georgia game.
Preparing to cross the goal line for a two-point conversion, Newton slowed down to walk into the end zone only to get blasted by former LSU linebacker Deion Jones. Newton managed to convert the attempt, but the shot left him rattled and he was quickly taken to the locker room for concussion tests.

It was just the latest reminder that players don’t stop playing until the whistle has blown and that early celebration should be done at one’s own risk.
Tennessee running back Jalen Hurd learned that lesson the hard way when he was crushed by Georgia cornerback Deandre Baker before crossing the goal line and fumbled the football, which the Bulldogs recovered.
There has been no update on Newton’s condition as of the time this article was posted.
