WATCH: Dolphins QB Jay Cutler won’t be mistaken for a WR anytime soon
By Clint Lamb
Published:
When the Miami Dolphins lost starting QB Ryan Tannehill prior to the start of the season, they decided to reunite former Vanderbilt QB Jay Cutler with his old offensive coordinator Adam Gase, the ex-Chicago Bears offensive coordinator who is now the Dolphins’ head coach.
While Tannehill has some history at wide receiver from his time at Texas A&M, Cutler does not. From the looks of it, the ex-Vanderbilt product doesn’t have any interest in learning the position, either.
That was apparent during Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints, when Cutler lined up at wide receiver in the Dolphins wildcat formation:

I don’t think anyone would ever consider Cutler at receiver as a threat, but hey, he did rush for 1,256 yards and 17 touchdowns during his four-year career at Vanderbilt.
Those days were a long time ago, though, and Cutler clearly wanted to make sure he didn’t get the ball on the play above.
