Everyone loves a good fake punt jump pass.

Ed Orgeron pulled out his back of tricks, and that is exactly what LSU attempted early in the third quarter against Auburn with sophomore punter Zach Von Rosenberg on Saturday.

The ball was intended for tight end Foster Moreau, but fell incomplete as Von Rosenberg overthrew it.

In fairness to Orgeron, the play was there, and an accurate pass would have likely resulted in a first down. Somehow, LSU’s 27-year old former MLB pitcher punter was off the mark, and Auburn took over on downs near midfield.

The jump pass was made famous by Tim Tebow at Florida, and Auburn executed it well in last year’s Iron Bowl. However neither team attempted to execute it with a punter.
