There could be some type quarterback controversy in Lexington, Kentucky, this season.
Coach Mark Stoops met with members of the media Monday and mentioned the possibility of quarterback Drew Barker seeing some game action on Saturday against Southern Miss. Barker, a junior, is listed as the backup on the Kentucky depth chart behind senior Stephen Johnson.
Barker hurt his back against New Mexico State in 2016 and hasn’t played in a game since because the injury he sustained required season-ending surgery. From there, Johnson stepped in and hasn’t relinquished the position since. Now healthy again, it looks like Barker could be competing for his old job back according to Stoops.
