The past few months at Maryland have been turbulent, and that may be understating it.

Redshirt offensive lineman Jordan McNair’s death in June from heatstroke during a team workout has sparked an investigation and coach DJ Durkin has been put on administrative leave. Just eight months after taking over as offensive coordinator, Matt Canada helped lead Maryland to an upset win over No. 23 Texas for the second year in a row.

The focus Saturday was solely on remembering McNair’s legacy. On the first play of the game, the Terrapins didn’t line up a player at right guard, which was the late player’s traditional spot. When the game was over, Maryland players took the field with a No. 79 flag and waved it in the end zone close to their fans. McNair wore No. 79 for Maryland.
