Mississippi State got the upper hand in what was billed as a must-win scenario over Auburn on Saturday.
The Bulldogs, behind a sensational outing from QB Nick Fitzgerald, who broke Tim Tebow’s career record for rushing by an SEC quarterback in the 23-9 win. Fitzgerald ran for 195 yards and two touchdowns. It snapped a two-game losing skid and re-set the Bulldogs in the SEC West, something Joe Moorhead especially enjoyed with his patented “How ‘Bout them ‘Dogs?” in the post-game locker room.
“Play loose, play fast, and have fun,” Moorhead said in the video, which showed the Bulldogs’ arrival at Davis Wade Stadium, and then a montage of highlights throughout the game.
Many of them were of the Mississippi State defense, which bottled up Auburn for just 90 rushing yards, and 304 total yards.
These highlights will remain fresh for a while as the Bulldogs enter their bye week this week. They return to action Oct. 20 at LSU.
