Missouri’s Terry Beckner Jr. recently explained why he is choosing to stay at Mizzou for his senior season.
Beckner mentioned that he wants to continue playing the game at the school he loves, and also emphasized how important it was for him to get an education.
It was announced on Dec. 1 that Beckner would be staying for his senior year despite the fact he’s viewed by some NFL scouts as one of the nation’s better defensive tackles.
“I felt like giving myself an extra year (would help) me get my degree,” Beckner said. “And without the education, you can’t play sports. You’ve got to get that first.
“I felt like that was the greatest decision I’ve made since I’ve been here.”
Beckner has been a key part of the Tigers defense — particularly its pass rush — for the past three seasons. His seven sacks this year were tied for first on the team.
Though Beckner has battled a handful of injuries throughout his Mizzou career, he’s played at an elite level when healthy.
