LSU’s 33-17 win over No. 8 Miami on Saturday was something of a coming-out party for RB Nick Brossette.

The senior had to patiently wait his turn behind future NFL running backs such as Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice, but he finally got his chance on Saturday night and didn’t disappoint.

Brossette was the player who stood out the most on LSU’s offense against Miami, rushing for 125 yards on 22 carries and also scored two touchdowns.

A lot of players wouldn’t want to wait until their senior season to play, but Brossette says it’s all a part of the journey and that he’s worked to stay with it.

“My performance gave me a lot of confidence,” he said. “Just waiting behind those guys and being patient, just taking knowledge from them and learning from them, it’s been a good journey. I’m just proud to be here in this position and now it’s paying off. ”

LSU will play Southeastern Louisiana under the lights at Tiger Stadium on Saturday, and Brossette says after their Week 1 win, his team can’t wait to get back out on the field.

“We can’t wait to get back out there Saturday, we have a lot of momentum going into this game and we are just ready to play football.”
