WATCH: Rick Neuheisel says what’s happened at Georgia ‘is nothing short of astounding’

It took Georgia coach Kirby Smart just two years to reach the national championship game while battling in the toughest conference in football.
He’s taken the football program up that extra notch that they needed in Athens, and from recruiting to the Dawgs’ performance on the field, it’s pretty wild to consider what he’s accomplished in such a short amount of time.
On Thursday, Rick Neuheisel of CBS Sports reflected on what Smart has done in his short time at Georgia.

“Apparently he was paying attention in Tuscaloosa because he has absolutely transformed this program.” Neuheisel said. “What’s happened in such short time in Georgia is nothing short of astounding. To play for a national championship as early as the second year there, to be leading all of the recruiting tabloids out there, to be at the top of the list and all that. Listen, he’s learned from a master of coaching and he’s also a favorite son back at his alma mater, those two things coupled together are pretty lethal.”
It’s important to note that Mark Richt never had trouble recruiting talent. Richt’s (and his staff) trouble was developing those players and winning football games. Smart, however, appears to be the total package, as Georgia has arguably the most talent in college football and has the No. 1 recruiting class right now.
