WATCH: South Carolina players celebrate with fans after beating N.C. State
The 2017 season started out solid for South Carolina football.
The season began with a win over N.C. State, 35-28 in Charlotte. Quarterback Jake Bentley finished with good numbers, throwing for over 200 yards and three touchdowns. Deebo Samuel was his main target, catching five passes for two touchdowns. Samuel also returned the opening kickoff for a score.
N.C. State has one of the most veteran teams in the country, returning 18 starters from 2016’s team. Despite the experience, the young Gamecocks pulled out the victory. The South Carolina defense also had a major impact, stopping the Wolfpack on a fourth and goal to close out the game.
The players celebrated with fans who made the trip up to North Carolina for the game after the win.
