Let’s hope the Big 12 league office wasn’t paying attention to Jeremiah Criddell’s commitment Wednesday.
The highly rated safety prospect committed to Oklahoma live on ESPN2, an announcement that came with the “Horns Down” gesture meant as a shot at rival Texas. West Virginia drew a taunting penalty from Big 12 officials for using the hand signal in a game against the Longhorns this year, and Oklahoma was warned about it prior to the conference title game.
That didn’t stop Criddell from flashing “Horns Down” on national TV, which you can see in the clip below tweeted by Sooner Gridiron.

It’s unlikely that the Big 12 would go so far as to penalize a recruit for making the gesture outside of a game, but Oklahoma coaches will probably have a talk with Criddell about it moving forward. If anything, Criddell took a shot at his school’s rival while he could.
